We are committed to our mission: through excellence, we create once-in-a-lifetime experiences, every time.
Today, Holland America Line's fleet of 15 elegant, mid-size ships offers more than 500 sailings a year visiting all seven continents. Cruises include both popular and less-traveled ports in the Caribbean, Bermuda, Alaska, Europe, Mexico, South America, the Panama Canal, Australia, New Zealand and Asia - as well as unique voyages to the Amazon, Antarctica and our extended Grand Voyages. Along with enticing destinations, we offer one-of-a-kind programs such as the Culinary Arts Center cooking demonstrations, Digital Workshop powered by Windows and The Collections of Holland America Line - specially chosen shore excursions to further enhance our guests' appreciation and understanding of the places they visit.
Holland America Line has a long and proud history of delivering extraordinary vacation experiences, and with our ongoing $566-million Signature of Excellence commitment, that experience is now better than ever. Signature of Excellence enhancements encompass virtually every area of our ships and range from new facilities and public spaces to added services and amenities.
Innovative programs and superior amenities have consistently placed us among the highest-rated premium cruise lines, earned us the prestigious Five Star Diamond Award from The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences and one of the highest rates of repeat guests in the industry. We are very proud of these achievements and look forward to exceeding guests' expectations in every aspect of our operation.
Holland America Line also continues to set new standards for environmental leadership. Through hard work and dedication, Holland America Line earned its ISO 14001 certification in June 2006. As the internationally recognized standard for environmental management, ISO 14001 encompasses virtually every aspect of our ships' operations. Our commitment to it demonstrates our belief that the safeguarding of our guests, crews, ships and the environment in which we live and operate is not only the right thing to do, it is essential to the successful conduct of our business.
As part of our collective social responsibility, the company, employees, and guests have joined together to give back to communities and organizations around the world. Through the Ship to Shelter program, Holland America Line collects valuable and reusable goods from ships for donation to charities serving people in need. And together, guests and employees have donated over $3 million through our innovative On Deck for the Cure shipboard walks benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Whether it's donating shipboard items to an orphanage, cleaning up a neighborhood park, or donating money to disaster relief, Holland America Line and its employees share time and resources to make a difference.
Signature of Excellence is a promise from every Holland America Line employee to our guests - a commitment to provide a truly extraordinary experience and tremendous value. We invite you to experience our award-winning service, extraordinary accommodations, five star dining, entertaining onboard activities, and exotic destinations that can only be found on a cruise with Holland America Line. We look forward to welcoming you aboard.
The Pacific Ocean has more than eleven million square miles of ocean dotted with islands, some no larger than a suburban back yard.
The names themselves conjure up images of times past, great voyages of discovery and pitched battles, now etched in history - Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, New Caledonia, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and Samoa - they all have a charm and allure which has attracted explorers, adventurers and fortune seekers since the dawn of time.
Thirteen island nations, with a total population of just over 6 million people offer so much to see and do. Going on a cruise to the rich and diverse South Pacific will let you experience the enchanting islands and beautiful people that for hundreds of years stirred the mind and excited the imagination.

The basic layout of the public rooms of the new ship will be the same as that of the Rotterdam, including the alternative dining restaurant, a lounge featuring an additional dance floor, and a children's room on Sports Deck that also may be used as a meeting or reception room. The new ship also will feature three staircases for the convenience of passengers, as on board the Rotterdam.
The Volendam's alternative restaurant will take on the persona of an "artists' bistro," serving Italian fare, including pastas, pizzas, salads and more in a relaxed setting. Its beechwood walls will feature the drawings and etchings -- reproductions and originals -- of artists ranging from the old masters to perhaps a struggling new talent who may have traded artwork for a meal.
The Casino Bar, in addition to being the ship's sports bar, will feature cinematic memorabilia, including costumes, props, photos and posters of movies and the stars who made them.
The Volendam's main show lounge will feature colorful colonnades against satiny dark wood walls. The decor will hearken back to the Art Deco era, with a design inspired by the famous Tuschinski Theater in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
The ms Volendam features one penthouse suite, 28 suites, 168 deluxe verandah staterooms, 384 standard outside staterooms and 139 standard inside staterooms. It also has 22 staterooms equipped for the physically challenged that have wheelchair access.
Colors should be use as a guide. Exact colors may vary.
The beautiful garden theme of the ms Volendam is reflected in an artful floral motif throughout the ship's spacious public rooms and elegant staterooms. "Flowers" can be found in abundance in the forms of floral fabrics and tapestries, as well as huge vases of tropical floral arrangements and chrysanthemums.
In addition to fresh flowers throughout the ship, Holland America Line has drawn on its collection of incredible artwork to enhance the interior of the ship's public spaces. Everything from pre-Columbian fetishes and sculptures to Renaissance-era fountains imported from Italy are included in its hallway galleries. At the heart of the ship an elegant sculpture by Luciano Vistosi, inspired by the myriad of moods and colors of a kaleidoscope, greets visitors in a soaring three-story atrium.
